Aesthetic Reconstruction procedures involve a variety of congenital and acquired deformities that affect both appearance and function. These include Poland Syndrome, Tubular Breast Deformity, Male Breasts, Breast Implant Complications, Underdeveloped Breasts, Ear Deformities, Facial Asymmetry, and Post-Mastectomy/Breast Implant Removal deformity.
When performed by a highly experienced and skilled plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Lu-Jean Feng, the procedure is tailored to each person’s anatomy, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals.
Dr. Feng’s approach to Aesthetic Reconstruction is both functional as well as aesthetic. Her goal is not to simply correct the deformity, but to do so with better and more natural form and symmetry, masterfully and beautifully, and with a long-lasting result. Dr. Feng pays careful attention to every detail, and achieving harmonious balance with the patient’s overall figure or physique. The result is life-changing for most patients who have suffered in silence with unawareness, self-consciousness and/or the inability to wear certain types of clothing.
The healing time following most Aesthetic Reconstruction procedures depends on the particular surgery. During the first 2 weeks post-operatively, the greatest risk for bleeding can occur so caution must be taken not to overdo it.
Beginning in the recovery room immediately following surgery, each patient is given fresh organic berries and spring water instead of crackers and Ginger Ale. At the time of discharge, they receive 1 quart of Dr. Feng’s Signature Salad (contains 13 superfoods) and 1 quart of our fresh FengFit® Plant-Based soup to begin their healing journey. Dr. Feng is adamant that proper healing begins with good nutrition and therefore, she developed FengFit® Plant-Based Cuisine in 2011. Today, Dr. Feng’s food is sold in 11 Heinen’s Supermarkets in the Cleveland area.
The first 2 weeks of healing following Aesthetic Reconstruction surgery are the most critical. Therefore, Dr. Feng’s standard post-op protocol involves 3 60-minute hyperbaric oxygen sessions. These treatments help to speed up recovery time and they begin the day after surgery so the patient is seen on a daily basis. Most out-of-state patients plan on being in Cleveland for 1 full week from the day of surgery.
Yes, Dr. Feng sees quite a few young, middle age and older men for Aesthetic Reconstruction and Cosmetic surgery. The most popular procedures are Gynecomastectomy, Otoplasty (ears), Brow Lift, Face Lift, Abdominoplasty and Liposuction.
Dr. Feng has long been an advocate of doing surgery using natural techniques without the use of a foreign object. Her approach has long-term, non-reactive benefits to the patient. Tubular Breast Deformity is characterized by a large areolar complex and a very high inframammary fold with most of the breast tissue below the fold. Dr. Feng corrects this by reshaping the breast tissue, reducing the areolar, and lifting the breast tissue above the inframammary fold — without the use of an implant. This is a long-term, safe, permanent solution.
With a healthy lifestyle including exercise and good nutrition the fat will react according to any significant weight fluctuations. If you lose weight or gain weight the injected fat will react accordingly. Our post-op hyperbaric oxygen sessions also help the fat grafts to thrive.
Yes, depending on your insurance, some do reimburse for a portion of the cost of the reconstructive surgery, particularly if it is for a congenital deformity. We do not take insurance for payment, but we will provide you with a letter of medical necessity, as well as the proper diagnosis and procedure codes so that you can file a claim for reimbursement directly to you.
The remedy for gynecomastia (male breasts) is to remove both fat and excess breast tissue. If the individual has more fat than breast tissue, he must be careful not to gain too much weight or it can come back. Breast tissue will not come back once removed.
The two breasts typically separate pretty far apart from each other with a wide separation in the middle. When using the arms to lift, push or pull, the breasts will move in a noticeably unusual way. The muscle repair not only eliminates the visual deformity, but it allows the patient to regain their upper body strength back that they lost when the muscle was cut to insert the implants.
Poland Syndrome is where breast tissue is missing and the pectoralis major muscle is either missing or poorly developed on one breast. Dr. Feng corrects this by building the breast with fat or using a latissimus dorsi muscle flap. This is a long-term, safe, permanent solution.
Due to the type of anesthetics we use, it is no problem for several reasons. First and foremost, all of our anesthesiologists are highly experienced board certified doctors, not nurse anesthetists. Next, we don't use anesthetic gas to keep patients asleep. Instead, you are breathing a combination of oxygen and air. This is much healthier for you than breathing gas. Then through an IV in your arm, you are receiving very fast-acting anesthetics that completely leave your system within 6 minutes after the surgery ends. This allows you to wake up quickly with no nausea and no hangover effect. You are alert and in control of yourself going into the Recovery Room.
