Have you noticed how fat always tends to navigate toward and settle down around the midriff? The worst part is that once it settles down there, it’s very hard to get rid of. You’ve tried exercise regimens, diets, and everything you can think of to slim, tone, and tighten your belly – but to no avail.
You don’t have to live with a saggy tummy just because traditional methods were ineffective. A tummy tuck is the most effective way to contour your stomach, removing excess fat, tightening loose skin, and rejoining sagging muscles. It also enhances your posture.
Could your tummy use a tuck? It could if you have a sagging belly that hangs low over your midriff. If you want quick and guaranteed results, this procedure may be the perfect choice.
What Is a Tummy Tuck Like?
Tummy tucks are a safe option with long-lasting benefits. At the start, anesthesia is administered to ensure that the procedure is comfortable. A hip-to-hip incision is then made in the pubic area. A second incision is created around the navel, allowing for more changes higher up on the abdomen.
Drooping muscle tissue and fascia are tightened with the help of internal sutures. Rejoining the sagging abdominal muscles helps to strengthen the abdominal wall.
Liposuction is used to suck out pockets of excess fat, recontouring the region. The navel is repositioned, and excess skin is removed. The remaining skin is tightened. Once the incisions are sutured closed, a tight bandage is placed around the area.
The Recovery Process After a Tummy Tuck
You will be able to return home the same day as your tummy tuck. Once you are home, you will need to rest and take some time off from work. It will be especially important to avoid any strenuous activities during your recovery period, including sports, strenuous exercise, and heavy lifting. You may not be able to stand fully upright for a time while you are healing.
Part of the healing process will involve dealing with bruising and swelling in the region. Ice packs can be used to help ameliorate the swelling. A post-surgical elastic garment must be worn for a time in order to keep swelling down and support tissues as they heal.
At some point, you will need to come in for a follow-up appointment in order to have your stitches removed. At this appointment, Dr. Feng will ensure that healing is going as expected and without complications.
Once the swelling has fully disappeared, you will be able to enjoy the finals results of your tummy-tuck procedure. The area will be tighter, more contoured, and better defined.
