During an Upper Lid Blepharoplasty, I carefully and precisely remove measured amount of excess skin, and when appropriate, reposition or remove small amounts of fat that contribute to a heavy or hooded appearance. The incision is placed within the natural crease of the eyelid, where it becomes virtually invisible once healed. My Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty addresses puffiness, under-eye bags, loose skin, and signs of aging beneath the eyes. The result is a smoother, more rested appearance that avoids the hollow or “pulled” look associated with overly aggressive surgery. By carefully removing or repositioning excess skin and fat while preserving the natural beauty and expression of the face, I am able to create results that look refreshed, elegant, and naturally rejuvenated — not operated upon.
Healing time is very important to achieving a great result with very minimal signs of scars. The faster a patient heals, the better the quality of the scars and the sooner normal activity can be resumed. This is a very important consideration for the numerous out-of-state patients who come to Feng Clinic for this procedure.
Whenever you look in the mirror and don't like what you see. There is no perfect time or age to do eyelid surgery. If you have drooping or hooded upper eyelids or excess skin that makes your eyes look tired, or bags underneath your eyes, then you could benefit from a more refreshed look. A consultation appointment with Dr. Feng can determine whether eyelid surgery is right for you.
The procedure can last between 1 to 3 hours depending what is being done. If the eyes have a lot of aging and loose skin or if both the upper and lower lids are being done the procedure will be on the longer side.
With a healthy lifestyle including good nutrition, adequate sleep, exercise, bio-identical hormones and minimal stress the results should last 10 to 15 years. You will still look years younger as your face and eyes continue to age, but the more you can do to slow down the process, the better.
If upper eyelid skin is obstructing your peripheral vision, an Upper Blepharoplasty can improve your appearance as well as your visual field.
I have always said that you get what you pay for. The cost of my eyelid procedures range from $10,000 - $16,500 depending on exactly what is being done and how long it will take. The price for this procedure also depends on the years of experience and expertise of the surgeon and also the market they reside in. Obviously, experienced plastic surgeons in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas charge much more for the same procedure than in Cleveland, Ohio.
When performed solely for cosmetic enhancement, eyelid surgery is generally not covered. However, if excess upper eyelid skin significantly impairs vision, a portion of the procedure may qualify for insurance coverage. Our office can help determine whether additional testing or documentation is appropriate.
While the natural aging process continues, the improvements from eyelid surgery are long-lasting. Many patients enjoy their results for 10 years or more, and some never require a second procedure.
